Holidays like the 4th of July are typically a “no refusal weekend” (or no refusal holiday). During a no refusal weekend, local law enforcement within the county coordinate with county judges and magistrates in to issue warrants authorizing the police to take a blood specimen of any and all individuals lawfully arrested for DWI who refuse to voluntarily provide a breath specimen. Judges on call through the night will await affidavits faxed to their homes and return warrants authorizing the police to stick a needle in your arm and forcibly remove your blood. An extreme measure for a misdemeanor offense, but a popular one in Collin County. Be prepared.
